People begin to arrive around 10 a.m., and parking is accessible off of Sheldon Avenue and Thompson Ct. Our service begins at 10:30 a.m. and lasts for about an hour. Afterward, elders are available for prayer at the front of the sanctuary, and we gather in our fellowship area for cookies and coffee. Please come as you are—you will find some people in dress shirts and slacks and others in sweatpants or shorts.
Our Sunday morning worship is reflective of our church community—diverse, genuine, and welcoming. We intentionally include music from many genres, including spirituals, hymns, contemporary gospel, contemporary Christian, and others. Members of our community help to lead us in worship with music through singing and instruments. Ribbons and rhythm instruments are also available during our worship, and our services have also included drama and dance. Our services begin with announcements and worship. We follow a liturgical structure, which includes time for confession, fellowship, and generosity for members. Donations support our church general fund as well as a variety of organizations we support. Our sermons are about 20 minutes long, preached by our pastor, Kelsi Jones, and are narrative-driven, focusing on a specific passage of Scripture. We take communion together on the first Sunday of each month and every Sunday during Lent and Advent. We believe that God welcomes everyone to the table, including children, and we invite all who desire to encounter God’s grace to participate.
Children are welcome during our worship services or may participate in nursery or children’s worship. Our sanctuary has tables with art supplies available for children (and adults!) to use as well as rhythm instruments and streamers to support our worship.
Nursery is available for babies and children up to age three and children’s worship is available for children ages three through second grade. Each Sunday in children’s worship reflects the liturgy of our Sunday services. Children sing songs, pray together, read a Bible story, have a snack, and finish with play time. Grown ups are welcome to stay with children or drop them off. All volunteers in our children’s programming undergo background checks and complete our annual safer church training.
Grace Church on Buckley relishes the unique role each of us plays in the body of Christ, not in spite of our differing abilities but rather enlivened by them. Both of our entrances as well as our sanctuary are wheelchair accessible and we have a sensory basket available in the back of our sanctuary with items available for children and adults to use during our service.
